Sexual Harassment & Gender Based Discrimination

WSU prohibits sexual harassment and discrimination based on sex and/or gender, as defined in WSU Executive Policy 15. Discrimination in all its forms, including harassment, sexual harassment, and sexual misconduct, destroys mutual respect and a trusting environment, can bring substantial personal harm to individuals, and violates individual rights. Such behaviors can be reported to Compliance and Civil Rights. Resources and grievance options are available.

Sexual harassment and discrimination based on sex may include, but is not limited to, discriminatory harassment on the basis of sex and/or gender, different treatment based on sex, verbal comments of a sexual nature, physical gestures of a sexual nature, or quid pro quo harassment (offering someone a benefit in exchange for sexual or romantic favors). Sexual harassment also includes egregious conduct such as stalking, intimate partner violence, sexual exploitation, and nonconsensual sexual contact, including nonconsensual sexual intercourse (see CCR’s Sex and Gender Based Violence website for specific resources). Please note, WSU policy also prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

Definitions for each of these are listed in Executive Policy 15
